Radek Stepanek has revealed that he is full of confidence ahead of the Czech Republic's Davis Cup final clash with Spain.
The 30-year-old will be second on court tomorrow in Barcelona (December 3rd) in the opening singles rubbers, when he will take on world number 18 David Ferrer.
Although he arguably could have faced a more daunting challenge in the shape of Rafael Nadal, Stepanek explained that he is feeling fresh and ready to take on any opponent.
"It doesn't matter who it is - it's going to be a tough match either way. I was ready for either of them," he said.
The selection of Ferrer - who has been out for the past month with a hamstring injury - ahead of Fernando Verdasco for the opening round of singles has raised eyebrows.
However, Spain captain Albert Costa described the decision as "strategic", adding that Verdasco will pair up with Feliciano Lopez for Saturday's doubles rubber.
Stepanek and Ferrer enjoy a close rivalry, having picked up three wins apiece from their six career meetings on the ATP Tour, including a 1-1 record on clay.
Unsurprisingly, the duo are evenly matched in the betting for their Davis Cup clash, with Ferrer the slight 5/6 favourite and Stepanek rated as an 11/10 shot.
