Nadal to kick off Davis Cup final against Berdych

Rafael Nadal will feature in the opening match of Spain's Davis Cup final clash against the Czech Republic tomorrow (December 4th).

The world number two will take on Tomas Berdych in the first singles match on the indoor clay courts of the Palau Sant Jordi stadium in Barcelona.

Nadal is unbeaten in his last ten Davis Cup encounters on the surface, but has endured a difficult season, culminating in his winless appearance at the ATP World Tour Finals last week.

However, the 23-year-old expressed his belief that he will be raring to go against Berdych, a player who he has beaten in five of their eight career meetings to date.

"It wasn't a big surprise. When you are not 100 per cent at a tournament like that you are going to lose," said Nadal of his torrid experience in London.

"Here I am 100 per cent. I will be playing a little bit better I hope. You can't always play perfect … but I think I'm ready for tomorrow."

Nadal is the heavy 1/6 favourite to triumph against Berdych, while the world number 20 can be backed at 6/1 to cause a major shock.
